So far as I started going in to the book there is the main character in the book who is named Katniss along with another her younger sister named Prim. tells her story in the first person, wakes up. It is the day of the reaping. She sees her little sister, Prim (short for Primrose), asleep in bed with their mother across the room. Katniss puts on her clothes to go hunting. The area where she and her family live is called the Seam, and it’s part of District 12. They are at the edge of the district, which is enclosed by a high fence, and Katniss often crawls under the fence and enters the woods outside, where she forages and hunts. Her father taught these skills before his death in a mine explosion when she was 11 years old and she uses a bow he made her. Though trespassing in the woods and poaching are illegal, nobody pays attention, and Katniss even sells meat to the Peacekeepers who are supposed to go by the laws. Most people in the district, she explains, don’t have enough food.
So far getting into the middle of the book I personally think that it is very interesting and excitement awaits as I read this book coming to an end.

Current Event #2A steadily strengthening force since its birth in the 1970s, aspects of hip-hop have unquestionably dominated pop culture for years now. Compton´s rap artist, Kendrick Lamar won a Pulitzer Prize on his hottest album ¨DAMN¨ "Damn" for its "affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life," and nowhere is that complexity more palpable than in this cut about "the power, poison, pain and joy inside my DNA." One of Lamar's signatures on "Damn" is jumping among different perspectives, but here he inhabits each with so much detail. From the 9-year-old living in a motel to the budding superstar "sipping from a Grammy" that you understand the words not as role play but as lived experience. Kendrick has used many of his songs to explain his lifestyle and culture living in LA and having the listener follow along with the mood and feels to his tracks. A few of his hits have reached on Billboards Top 15 and were songs that have influenced the society of rap culture. It is something that people have heard and fought for with most of the issues he raps in his music Current event #3 "uber is adding safety features it resisted for years" / APR 12, 2018 | 2:30 PM4/12/2018 This article is about Uber users being able to take control on their safety when they need it the most while being in one. Uber has announced upgrades this week that said they are keeping its U.S. ride-hailing customers safe. In the future Uber will add an emergency 911 feature to a panic button — a type of enhanced 911 that connects passengers directly with emergency personnel and enables them to share their location with the operator. It plans to enable riders to share their trip information with up to five "trusted contacts" on every trip so there are other sets of eyes to make sure rides go smoothly, according the the company. These changes are expected to be happening this upcoming summer. This is taking action because in the past, Uber conducted background check reruns in jurisdictions where required," Khosrowshahi founder of Uber, said in a blog post. "Going forward, we'll proactively rerun criminal and motor vehicle checks each year, regardless of whether there is a legal obligation to do so." My personal opinion on this event going on is is that I find it very helpful for those who don't feel safe according to who their Uber Driver is and also is they run into an accident. This will be something that passengers will find useful and feel more safe than having to worry if they will make it to their destination. Predicting Provide a brief summary of the book so far. What do you know about your book after reading part one? The setting of the place in Western Kansas in a city called Holcomb 70 miles east of the Colorado border. What do you think will happen to the main character in the next section of your book? So far in this book there isn't a main character yet but there is master of a River Valley Farm named Herbert William Clutter. He is forty-eight years old. What else can you predict about this book, plot, and conflict? Do you like the book so far? What I predict is going to happen is that Mr.Clutter's neighbor Mr. Taylor Jones will have some type of beef with him because he is a great guy well known for who he is but Clutter wants to become better than him Week 2: Character Relationships Provide a brief update on the plot of the book so far. Describe the relationships between different characters (at least 3). Do these characters have good relationships? What advice might you give to the main character regarding these relationships? What (if any) impact does the relationships between characters have on the plot/events of the story? In the book Herb's relationship with Edward Smith, the crime suspect, is not good. |
